The Hunt for the next Coach of the Indian National Team may be over

Rumours are rife of Guatam Gambhir, former Indian cricketer turned BJP politician, to be appointed head coach of the Indian National Cricket Team, succeeding Rahul Dravid.

Jay Shah at the BCCI, son of Home Minister Amit Shah, has started looking for a successor for Dravid, who might retire as soon as after the T20 world Cup. Speculation also suggests that his continuation of tenure is tenuous, and might well hinge on how India performs at the T20 World Cup in USA and West Indies this summer.

Rahul Dravid, the legendary Batsman who has scored over 24,000 international runs, started his coaching career with Rajasthan Royals in 2014. He was subsequently appointed head coach of India U-19 and India A teams. With the Under 19 team, Dravid reached the World Cup finals in 2016 and went on to win the World Cup in 2018. Following his stint with the Under 19s, Dravid was named head coach at the National Cricket Academy in 2019 eventually taking over the role of head coach of the Indian National Team in November 2021.
