Highway Tolls set for Revision post Poll closing
India Transportation Tax: Tolls to increase from Today
Toll charges across the country will be increased by 3% - 5% on Monday June 3, 2024. This is in line with inflation and highway operators are supposed to put advertisements in newspapers.
Over 1100 toll plazas will be hiking their tolls. This had been put on hold until the election process was over.
In FY23 a total of around Rs. 540 billion was collected as toll, up from around Rs. 252 billion in FY19. This growth has been witnessed thanks to an increase in traffic as well as an increase in the number of tolled roads.
India has the second largest highway road network in the globe, behind the United States of America.
