Home Security in the 3rd decade of the 21st century

Far from drones whizzing around and micro cameras with outsized abilities, we explore the question what does adequate home security look like in the 3rd decade of the 21st century?

For most people, maybe a camera system at the door or a smart lock is a standard fare. But is that enough?

Given the tremendous advances in technology, one can only assume that the level of sophistication for home intruders as well as security systems has only improved. Measures range from having license plate number recognition systems, to laser curtains to protect valuable artwork and also intruder trapping mechanisms.

At a basic level there are intelligent camera systems that have facial recognition as well as gait recognition abilities. This allows users to track people-specific movements and timings of access in their premises.

Then there could be things like motion sensors, activated by certain types of motions. Man radars, sound radars and other LIDAR type systems. Thermal imaging is also sometimes used to get an overview of larger compounds. There are also sensors available to detect water leaks, gas leaks and temperature changes.

But have you heard of bulletproof glass, titanium shutters, counter flash against flash photography and chemical detectors? Probably not. Yet these things have a market.

Safe rooms are quite common and these things are often designed to be earthquake proof, fire resistant and stocked with supplies for long term occupation.

Fire proofing systems like auto-mist, carbon dioxide, sprinklers and in some cases atmospheric oxygen evacuation are also helpful.

Biometrics is another major component of modern security system with possibility of having RFID type communication implanted in a person that auto-communicates with the security to allow seamless access.

And finally we have cyber security with massive investment in firewalls and encryption that allows data to be secure and communications to happen without eavesdroppers.
