Severe Covid-19 lung infection may harm the heart
Previous research has shown that Covid-19 increases the risk of heart issues like heart attacks and strokes, and more than half of Covid-19 patients experience some level of heart inflammation or damage.
What remained unclear was whether this damage occurred because the virus directly infected the heart or due to the body's immune response to the virus, causing inflammation throughout the body.
