Oral hygiene is known to be associated with conditions such as diabetes and heart disease. The connection lies in the intricate interplay between oral bacteria, inflammation, and overall health.
Research suggests a bidirectional relationship between diabetes and periodontal (gum) disease. People with diabetes are more prone to gum disease, and conversely, gum disease can make it harder to control blood sugar levels.
