Joe Biden Steps Down as Democrat Candidate; Kamala Harris to replace the sitting US Prez in the 2024 elections

Joe Biden, the 81 year old sitting US President has decided to step down.

This comes after an increasing number of critics on both sides of the aisle asked the President not to run for re-election in the November.

US Vice President Kamala Harris has been nominated by the Democrats to replace Biden in the 2024 race.

This move has special significance since many Democrats including former President Barack Obama had made indications that they believed Biden should not run for re-election.

Kamala Harris, the 60 year old from Oakland, California is the first Asian American and African American VP, and might just make history as the first woman President of the United States.

Donald Trump, the Republican candidate who recently survived an assassination attempt with a bullet grazing his right ear, is said to be the favourite now that Biden has dropped out of the race.

However, recent polls have suggested that Kamala leads in ratings by a narrow 2 percentage points, with an approval rating of 44 as compared to Trump’s 42.

With less than a 4 month run in to the ballot, it will not be an easy task for VP Harris.
